Details of the ice rink roofing project in Germany
The order concerned the prefabrication of approximately 280 Mg of ice rink roofing structure. The main elements of the structure were specific box profiles made of sheet metal.
The changing cross-section of the box profiles and their bending in three axes forced the development of a special technology for the step-by-step assembly and welding of the elements.
Stage one – precise marking of the sheet heating line
Stage 1/ Marking the sheet heating line and preparing a template allowing the positioning of appropriate points at the required height during heating.
Stage two – precise positioning of sheets in templates
Stage 2/ The sheets prepared in this way were placed in previously designed templates. The templates were fixed in precisely defined places on the tracing plate. After placing the sheets, pre-bent by heating, in them, we received the final positioning of the complete element in space.

Stage 3/ Welding the elements into a whole – in stages, according to a previously developed sequence
The entire structure consisted of:
– 10 box profiles of different shapes.
Their elements were assembled in the production hall
– 2 support elements that were assembled and welded in two stages:
The first stage was the prefabrication of box profiles
and support elements in the hall.
Then, outside the assembly hall (the weight of the integrated element exceeded the load-bearing capacity of the cranes inside the hall), the elements were integrated into a whole.
For this purpose, we have prepared a special stand with a removable roof.
